Miranda Kany began Samirand Catering, a boutique catering and event planning company, with her husband, Sam McIlvain in 2001. Since then, they have catered TONS of parties and weddings and built a loyal following of happy customers!
Miranda comes from a family of wonderful cooks. Her mom and grandmother taught her to love cooking at an early age and she’s been having fun in the kitchen ever since. She has worked in fine restaurants and catering since she was in the seventh grade. She is a 1999 graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education and has worked in many fine restaurants in Maui, San Francisco, Martha's Vineyard, and Manhattan.
A graduate of Barnard College, Miranda has a background in public relations and marketing as well as fine arts, design and writing, all of which enhances her creative abilities as a chef and event planner.
Sam is a talented guitarist who plays with some of the best musicians in NYC and Philly. Whether you are looking for a New Orleans jazz trio or a full scale funky dance band, Samirand Catering can help provide fantastic music to fit your needs.

At Samirand Catering, your event is our first priority. We will design the perfect seasonal menu and help you create the right atmosphere while delighting your guests with delicious, beautiful, home-cooked food. We use the best ingredients, local, organic and often, fresh from our own garden!
